The Guru Performance 'We Do Science' Podcast
Originally devised as a research tool (into knowledge & context in professional practice) for my Professional Doctorate (DProf) at Middlesex University – I published my first podcast in June 2014, and now the Guru Performance ‘We Do Science’ Podcast has an impact globally of almost 1 million downloads in 77 countries globally, despite there being only 99 episodes thus far, and is frequently ranked as one of the top Audio Podcasts in its class (Fitness and Nutrition) on iTunes.
With a focus on Exercise Physiology and Performance Nutrition, and an audience ranging PhD researchers to nutritionists and personal trainers - the podcast has been universally praised for its educational value to academics and practitioners alike.
I am also proud to boast that in 2016 I awarded the ‘Professor Clyde Williams OBE Award for Outstanding Contributions to Sport and Exercise Nutrition and Research’ by the UK Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) for the podcast.
The purpose of the podcast is to interview an expert (a real one – i.e. usually a Professor, PhD etc) and discuss a topic related to their area of expertise (i.e. published research, PhD focus, elite level practice etc) and then unpack the evidence into an applied context.
